C-4 transmission
So I had been planning on swapping my c-4 for a 5spd manual transmission, but with the lack of funds that I have right I am choosing to put that dream on hold. What can I do with a c-4 trans? I am planning on doing a mild build for the 351w i have right now, what would be a good shift kit to go with for such a build? Any do's and don't's that I need to know about? Thanks.
im having mine built with a 2500 stall converter, and i bought a full manual reverse valve body for it and a quicksilver shifter from b&m. its built from the best shop around here. i told the guy my motor was 350hp so hes building it to match.
I built a modified C4 years ago. I used the front servo and band for the 300 six and the special thinner clutch plates allowing more discs in the forward and reverse/high packs. I built my own case girdle to stiffen the case and add more depth to the stock pan. I was using the dual rang valve body as the select shift had just come out that year (1967). The thing would almost give you whiplash on shifts, it would bark the tires on a 1-2 shift at anything over 1/3 throttle, 2-3 was no slip, just "bang". Valve body was stock. I had a 64 Falcon, 260 with a severe case of "snakebite". The last setup on it was a pre-muscle parts 3-2V kit.
