Default just some boost questions

does boost add? like, say, if i have two turbo's running say 9lbs each. does that mean im running 18lbs of boost or 9?

also, how important is a BOV? and how hard are they to install? how do they work?

how do you control how much boost your running? i think i heard you can change the spring or something? i also heard you can remote mount a BOV i think and you can choose while driving?

can you guys just give me some more tips and whatnot when using boost?(specifially turbo)

OH YEAH, can i run a high flow mechanical fuel pump AND a in line electrical pump that i can turn on when i plan to run in the boost rpm's?

im thinking about running some twin t3/t4's in my stang on the cheap. kind of like how mike sitar did in his thunderbird http://toohighpsi.com/

i would probably use some cheap forged pistons, maybe even stock bore if the walls look good. arp rod bolts. hel, maybe id just run the stock bottom end comletely. depends on what my budget looks like. a big carb, or a blow through unit, depends on what they'd cost. a rpm intake, or stealth. stock 1985 heads with mild porting job. a big cam.i actually have a holly 600 just sittin around, like he ran lol. id probably pick up some shorty headers and try to flip em around etc etc....

how do you run oil lines to them? thats the one part i dont get at all....

I cant tell already your project is going to cost more then a "normal" kit.You cant run shorties flipped. There isnt enough room. You really dont want a big cam, somthing with more of a 114-116 LS.A Holley 600 is going to restrict the airflow, so you will need at least a 750 cfm. mech sec.A stock bottom is not a smart choice. You dont get 18 psi from 2 turbo's at 9 psi.A BOV is a spring actuated valve that will release over the preset psi.The psi is changed by the spring and it goes in the intake pipe and IT IS NEEDED.It also releases the opressure when you let off and the butterflies close on the carb.Your mechanical pump mught not be able to sutstain the amount of fuel flow while under boost, so a electric is a safer choice. The oil feed line is tapped off the sender port "T" and feeds the turbo then there is a drain back to the oil pan.

I really suggest you call CPR, because from your questions, you might do double work rather then doing it right. I learned the hard way(2 cams, heads, intakes ect.)

now your speaking my language, something i understand,...

DO NOT BUY cheap turbos, they will not last, and just plain suck, you deff get what you pay for here,...

a BOV is needed, this releases the pressure when you shift gears, if you do not release this pressure, it will cause "surge" which actually stops the turbine wheel or in some cases forces the turbine wheel backwards, which will destory a turbo in no time,...a BOV is a must

your boost is controlled by a wastegate, there are two types of wastegates, internal and external,...external wastegates are far far better then internal, they are much more accurate, faster, and more efficient, there are also electronic boost controllers and manual boost controllers, you should look into one of those also

shortie headers turned around are not going to work, there is not enough room,..

also a boost controller really doesnt work well with a carb, when you turn up the boost, the carb/jetting will need to change too

I dont have a exact amount becasue alot of stuff, i already had from the blower. But figure between fuel system and tank, carb, turbo, headers, hot, cold side and other stuff it will add up.I think i have in mine between $6-7K.That can change depending on your fabrication skills and the parts you use.

But call CPR see what you can start with and piece together

He's really stuck with a 351w. I would honestly charge an arm and a leg for the headers on that setup. When creating the headers for the 302 it took me days to make it so it would fit, and just to get the tubes tacked.I wasted a lot of material also. Re-doing tubes over and over. Logs are a pain, and I said I said I wouldn't do another set. But I would build you a set for you if I build them the way I want to make them fit. Lemme know if I can help ya out.

Yeah, I know. Just wasn't sure when the dates were. If this was first, or our forums. you could always use stock cast iron manifolds
