HELP! My 289 just died and the options are to restore it or go for crate. Am more intersted in crate, can anyone recommend a reputable dealer? Not interested in racing, just driving around on weekends. Ride is 66 convertible with AT.

302 and 289 are the same blocks. the only diff is the crank (and maybe the #s on the heads). when you order your ask them to date code it to the original era. its not hard since there is a huge window there. the #s were not very specific. Manufacture dates only.
Or you can do as i did. i pulled mine out and had a great shop rebuild it. They went with all the good stuff and set up all the aftermarket perts that i bought. i paid 2800 and it is fantastic. they also gave me a 3year 36k mi. warranty.
