Here We GO!
Congrats on the barnyard gem!!
If you want to just go here
http://www.mustangdecoder.com/decoder.html
and enter your VIN# / WARRANTY NUMBER and it will tell you everything you want to know about your Mustang.
And like many others have said already disassemble or start your project from it's most basic form first of all. This way you don't do a restoration only to find out down the road your cowl or frame rails need to be replaced.

Welcome to VMF and hello from another Virginian. I'm in the Northern Virginia area and belong to the Northern Virginia Mustang Club, good group of folks. If it has been sitting in a barn for 18 years probably need to start with the fuel system. My 73 sat for about 10 years, I replaced the fuel tank, rubber lines, fuel pump, rebuilt the carb and added a glass fuel filter to watch for rust in the line. Can't wait to see the pics. By the way, what part of Virginia are you from?

I'm from Richmond. The car was in Ashland. I do plan to start with the fuel system as you suggest. The first rubber I need is tires (old ones are rotted) so it will roll into my garage. A local place has offered to donate some used tires I can have put on my wheels, until I get it closer to roadworthy. Then I will work from the gas tank on. I also need a new radiator, as the old one leaks (P.O. told me). It has an I-6 3 speed manual. Once it's running I'll worry about cosmetics.
The P.O. got it at 16 (second owner) and drove it through high school and college, and did some work on it, but kept it all original. Family situation caused the car to be parked in 1990. It was running fine at the time.
I would like to drive it on weekends as I restore, so a frame-off won't happen yet, but once my sack of cash gets bigger...
