exhaust kit
What type of metal pipes are the new auto manufacturers putting on their cars. My 96 Ranger mufflers and pipes still look pretty good I know they are original because I bought it new.
I guess I have a slightly different perspective. While there are advantages and disadvantages to the "bolt in" systems vs. shop installed, one of the bigest disadvantages of the shop installed is that it is not mandrel bent pipe. Take a look at the bends, particularly those that go over the rear axle. The bender collapses the pipe, often making 2 1/4" pipe act more like 1 3/4" pipe. Also, you really need a crossover pipe. An x-pipe crossover is much more efficient than an h-pipe at scavenging exhaust gases. Most shops can probably do an h-pipe if pushed, but not an x-pipe. You can also install a kit, they actually do fit well if you spend some time, and then have the system tacked by a shop with a tig welder. If you've spent any money on performance upgrades (heads, cam, induction, etc.), you can give it all away with a poor flowing exhaust. For most stock set ups, 2 1/4" mandrel bent with an x-pipe or even an h-pipe is fine, in fact here is a good one:

For me, I have a 450hp (flywheel) boss 347 going into my 1966 fastback and I am using this system:

i definitly wants the magnaflow so that first one is out of the question cause of the flowmaster mufflers.
i had that second one in mind ( http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku ) though they only come in 2.5 inch.
so now i consider buying the mufflers and x-pipe and find someone here who is willing to to make an exhaust system using my own parts.
