my dad just had 2.5 inch exhaust with h pipe and stainless steel magnaflows put on our truck.

IT SUCKS!!!!

the worst mufflers ive ever heard. BY FAR! they sound all clappy and like a rat rod. i wanted the sound deep and loud. not a high pitch pop.

but fortunately they are getting a little better the more we drive it. the ONLY good thing about them, is they make it backfire like crazy!!! so i just drive arund and constantly shift down to second to make it backfire.

People say they love them! But anyhow, I've had flowmasters before and I likely will again.

+1 on the tri-ys, 2 1/4 exhaust and H pipe. And, IMO, a 600cfm carb is a little too much with a stock cam.

Wow. That's just the opposite of everything I've read about Magnaflows across several different forums. Most information I've seen on them is that they are (much?) more quiet than Flowmasters, more of a deep rumble rather than a loud, sharp pop. Also, minimal drone at cruise.

We have just about decided to get the Magnaflows for our '69 302 this weekend. I may wait to see who else has input on this. Like you, we are putting the car in shape for my 15 yr old son to drive when his time comes. The last thing he needs is to attract the attn of every cop in this small town. He'll probably do that anyway with a red '69.

Could the crossover/header? combination be the difference? Magnaflow has several different models. Straight thru with acoustical packing, 3-chamber, race series, ...etc. I would love to know which ones are on the truck so we can stay away from them.
