Default heater help

Well its getting cooler out now, my daughter drives the Mustang. How does the heater work lol, more specifically, how does the defroster work? She feels nothing. What is the switch over the heater that goes left to right. Cause, when she flips it to the right, a spark comes and, she loses power to her cigarette lighter (to charge her ipod).

The lever moves a cable behind the cotroller. Your lighter wire is probably too close to it and it is pulling the wire.

I know on my 66 I had to remove the 3 postion heater switch from the back of the chrome plate that holds all the levers in place. The switch had become dirty and would not function. I had to pull it apart and clean the contacts with 1500 grit sandpaper. Cleaned all the connectors and grounds as well...Works great now. It was a bit of a pain to remove.
