I'm trying to get my new carb properly tuned and everything seems to be working fine now. I was having some problems with a popping noise coming out of the exhaust but I turned the idle mixture up and I haven't noticed it, however whenever I floor the gas pedal the engine stalls. It runs fine if I just ramp up the RPMs, but if I just floor it outright the engine stalls. I haven't welded in the passenger floor pan so right now it's just sitting in my garage, and I'm guessing the engine probably isn't warmed up, could that be what's causing the stalling? On a side note I can hear a clicking or ticking coming from the passenger side of the engine, it's very hard to locate, any ideas?

 

Sounds kinda like it is flooding out with a sudden WOT. I do not know anything about Edelbrock carbs, but if it were a Holley, I would say you are rich on your jetting/PV and the accelerator pump is putting you over the edge. Maybe a Edelbrock carb guy can say for sure what to look for.

i dont think it would be timing, cause if it was, it would bog wether it was sudden WOT or gradual. air lock maybe? i really dont know...

 

according to the edelbrock carb manual, (.pdf), located at edel webpage, you're either rich on the secondaries, or the pump squirter needs to be changed. It states to adjust the lever to increase the pump squirt. That should be the one on the driver side top front, that pushes down on the plunger. Further out on the arm should increase the squirt.
