Drip rail quesions
Okay, new questions (is there a limit on them on this forum
)
I used some paint stripper on my drip rails and it shrunk the rtv or whatever they used to seal the upper inside portion of the driprails to the car with. I haven't tried digging it out yet, but what should I use to replace/redo it with? Silicone caulk, bubble gum? Another thing, after sanding them down, I noticed a hole about 1.25" long (rust) in the drip rail on the drivers side door about 2 inches from the bottom (towards the sideview mirror.) How do you repair this type of problem? I could clamp an aluminum bar on the bottom and fill it with weld, but that would turn my door into a pretzel. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

clean them out with a wire wheel, you cant use silicone anywhere near paint. it will not stick
you gotta use seam sealer you can buy another drip rail and cut the bad section out or change the entire thing
you squeeze the seam sealer in the space then take a gloved finger and dip it in laquer thinner and smooth it out(the thinner keeps it from sticking to your finger)
