Default How does this look? (carnage)

I took apart my old 6 cyl rearend. It had been making 'noise' during the last couple hundred miles. I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did. Sorry for the quality, the pictures don't do it justice. Everything on the pinion is metal, it looks like caked grease but it is mushroomed metal bits, all mashed up. Note the indents in the ring's teeth:

No. It was potentially all my fault. There was a small leak at the pinion seal. Or at least I thought it was small . . .

One day a slight hum appeared, coming from the differential. I figured the fluid must have been getting pretty low. My plan was to add some a few days later, when my scheduled allowed. I had changed the fluid a few months prior, and it only dripped a small amount every day. The sound got really bad, really fast hehe . . It was at least 2 quarts low (basically, completely empty) I drove it again, around the block the other night before I put the 8" in. I could heard bits breaking and flying loose.

If only I broke it due to high horsepower! Lol, maybe someday . .

Yeah I'm puttin a 5 lug 8in in mine so I can run disc's up front and not have 5 lug front wheels anf 4 lug rears. And 8in are alot tougher.

Anyone want a complete rear end out of a manual shift, 6 cylinder '70 mustang for free (brake drum to brake drum)? I don't know the ratio, it had no tag on it and the door information was gone. Unfortunantly it is too wide for your '66. It also has a pinon seal leak but I believe that it is in good condition otherwise. I am in central Calif. I am converting to a 9 inch.
