Default Water Pump

I have a '66 coupe with what I thought is a 289 however now my water pump crapped out and the pump that they had at Checkers Auto had the neck on the wrong side. However that is all that they had. Here is a picture of the pump that I removed. Does anyone know what the part number would cross to? The numbers on the pump are C80E-D.

I had the same problem. when I went to checker auto I took mine with me to compare. I have a 302 but the only water pump that would fit was one for a 289 so maybe you should look into a different motor size or even a different year? Good luck

289/302 is the same thing.

however, late model 302's (5.0's) have the water neck on the driver side.

The pump that you have is from a 289/302. The pump that they gave you is probably from a newer model 5.0. Like the above poster, goto Auto Zone or Advance Auto Parts (if you're town is like Fayetteville, NC then there is an Advance Auto Parts across the street of every Auto Zone).

Don't for get to take a scraper (or Dremal thing) to get all the old gasket off of the timing chain cover before you mount the new water pump.

put a LIGHT bead of The Right Stuff silicone on each side of the gasket before you mount it.

Okay so I got the pump installed and I need the water pump bypass hose (small L shaped hose). Does anyone know where to get one with out having to purchase it online?

It has been the same forever. Just get one for a Fox body Mustang and it will fit. They are all a little big and need to be trimmed slightly, so fit it and then trim as required.
