anyone have a block?
I'd grab a 5.0 roller block out of a fox body, pickup, or lincoln. Some of those mid-to-late 80's 5.0 blocks used low-tension piston rings, so you might even find one that still has the cross-hatch marks on the cylinder walls
I recommend those blocks because they're set up for use with a roller cam. It's easier to make more power without sacrificing driveability with a roller cam, and they're less hassle concerning break-in and maintenance due to current low-zinc oils. And like I said, some of those engines used low-tension piston rings that put very little wear on the cylinder walls, meaning that they usually require minimal boring.
why would a roller 302 be any worse than a 289 my77stang??? its almost the same thing, the biggest difference is just the longer stroke... nothing wrong with getting something that is newer, set up for a roller cam, and super super easy to find... and i have a complete 302 sitting in my garage but i live in Florida so its not worth shipping, lol.
im not using my 289 bc i am driving the car while i am building a new motor for it on the side, and i think my 289 might be original so i am taking it out and putting it in the corner or my shed and calling it a day. i never knew that not using a 289 makes you a p*ssy...huh i guess im behind on the "forum trash talking" lingo
