When you open your hood you'll find a small nich in the driver's side fender edge. It's in line with the bolts that tie the fender to the engine bay. Your VIN is stamped into the metal in that nich. Too often though, it's been filled in with paint. Take some coarse sand paper and rub it down. You'll find your VIN waiting there for you.

You won't find any VINs on the frame of your car for two reasons: One, Ford didn't put them anywhere but underhood and in the driver's door edge; and two, Mustangs don't have frames. [:@]

If your really hard up to find it and still can't try callin the state troopers...
Ask them if they will come out and help you locate your VIN... (and have it inspected if you have to have it done in your starte to tag it) they will know where it is, or goto an autoparts store and ask them to help you.

I really don't know that it's necessary to call the State Troopers to locate your VIN.
It's not that difficult... Just raise your hood and look right here:

well, in case you still didnt find it, there is also a buck tag on the passenger side under the hood sometimes, unless it was completely rusted off, almost like mine......anyway, if it was built in the windshield liek mine, it could have slipped down and be hidden in the bottom or if the windshield was replaced, it could be(dun dun dun) gone. EDIT* Not trying ot be funny, cuz that would really suck.

I'm afraid this may serve to complicate things even further. Not all Mustangs received a buck tag. I believe only San Jose and some New Jersey-built cars did. My Dearborne car does not have one - never has. And 1965 and '66 Mustangs did not have their VIN in the dash area.

Again: for a 65/66 car, the ONLY places for the VIN are on the driver's door data plate and under the hood on the fender lip. Not on the passenger door. Not on the frame rails. Not on the pumkin. Not hidden under the carpet or headliner or stamped onto original body panels. And certainly not anywhere on the engine. These are all myths. If you disassemble your car, you may find it on the passenger side fender lip as well; but it's not visible with the fender in place.

You 69'ers have a bunch of hidey places for your VIN that I don't. On old Yeller, it is on the driver's door and on the driver's inner fender well under the hood. That's it....no more hidey places.
