This weekend I plan on painting half of my dash in my car... but im not sure what type paint to use, which will look like stock... I took out the upper dash out already but i think im going to brush it on with a nice brush.

I going to spray the rear panals of the car.... so what you guys think?

thanks

National parts depot NPD sells stock color dash paints. Good stuff.

I'm getting ready to do my dash also. Got the paint from NPD if I remember right. They have the correct colors in spray bombs. On my 68 you are really only painting the lower half of dash, all metal. Color generally should be the same as the metal on the inside of doors. I've got the complete upper dash (other than pad) out of mine also, going back with all new bezels and plastic.

Spray can stuff from NPD. I did my 70s interior in it, everything turned out perfect.

There are two kinds you need to do it properly. The Paint, for hard or rigid metal or plastic surfaces, and the vinyl dye for soft surfaces.

You cannot, so far as I know, apply it with a brush and get it to look right.... besides I think they only make it in spray.

You need to remove the dash pad, remove the instrument cluster, take the instruments and lens away fromn the bezel, remove passenger side thing, radio bezel, etc. remove everything, paint it, let it sit for a day or so, then re assemble. The first pic i posted is the before pic.

Being a mach1, you shouldnt have tons to do, thanks to the woodgrain.

Masking tape and old news paper will work to mask things off.But use a triple layer of news paper tho.And always clean the parts good first and use a grease and wax remover after then paint them.

I simply used Krylon semi-flat which is pretty much the same and looks great. You can get it at any autoparts store.
