Here is a complete running 289 on eBay in Ohio (close enough to go get it from NY). I see them on eBay and Craigslist quite often. 4-speed toploaders are on eBay and Craigslist all the time. See 1/2 dozen there now. IMO if your looking for a new engine I'd also look at later model 302s. Any junkyard should have at least a couple there. Or go the 351 route.

Whats wrong your current 289? Just looking for something to rebuild?

I'd recommend snagging a late model 5.0 roller block. A lot of the late 80's 5.0 motors came with low-tension piston rings and may still even have the cross-hatch marks on the cylinder walls. Not only do you get the benefits of a roller cam, but you're less likely to have to bore it out as much to get the cylinders in round.

I have a .060 289 with Performer cam, very low miles, but shipping might not be worth it.
