Default Engine Question

Getting a little further along with my engine, down to the crank at this point
I got all the pistons out yesterday morning at 3:30 am because i couldnt sleep lol

Now i need to take off the Balancer, and Bottom Pulley
I took the three bolts out that hols the bottom pulley to the balancer, but it is stuck on to it, how would i pull this off? or can it come off with the balancer

I borrowed the bolt on type balancer puller form the local auto parts store... how exactly does this work, i know i bolt it to where i unscrewed the bottom pulley but what does the center bolt press against to pull the balancer off?
I'm thinking leave the bottom bolt partially scrwed in and press off that? Correct? or am i lost?

There is a bolt right in the center of the balancer, real big one. The center bolt on the puller threads in there, just find one that fits the hole. Good luck.

This puller isnt working worth a damn, worn out loaner tools, what did i expect....
everytime i put some torque on the center bolt it starts to spin and skips, stripped "duck foot"

is there any other way you guys know of to pul the balancer, besides buying a new puller, im on time and money constraints

put the car in gear so the balancer doesnt spin. or if its an auto, stick a screwdriver in the flywheel

wait i might have misunderstood what you asked. the whole balancer is spining when your trying to pull it out? or the puller is stripped?

Screw driver in flywheel and spin it side to side while pulling toward you.

A puller that is in good shape will work great. You can rent one at most auto parts stores.

Are you tapping the end of the big screw of the balancer remover every so often? Tightening the big screw applies load to the balancer, but sometimes a little vibration will work wonders in getting the balancer actually starting to move.

I hope you aren't putting the balancer remover thread into the threaded crank hole, as that will screw up the threads. Put the crank pulley/balancer bolt back in b ut not all the way (you need to leave a little room for the balancer to move into once you get it moving).

to clarify, i did wind up putting the bolt in about half way, and pushing off of that,
the threads on the center of the plate are stripped and i am getting no where,

i need to rent as decent or break down and buy ($20 at sears) a balancer puller, i use them at work frequently but no one there will let me take it home with me =/

i guess for now i will go out and try spinning it and pull, probly a waste of effort but i dont want to waste $20 for something ill use once
