Man, you will be alright. Looks like a lot of work, but I have seen worse come back from the dead.

Concerning the price of an I6 Fastback, I would be fine with that. I love 6's and am not one of those people who instantly want to rip out the guts and go 8 cyl. It's just not the right time for me. The other problem is that I want a 67, which I believe cost more. (thank you Nicholas Cage and Bullitt). I love 65-66's as well.

Holy ****. Where is the buyer at? I'd be making a car drive if I were you, with a printed copy of the ebay listing and my lawyers business card with a notarized document saying the ****muscle better get me my **** or i'll forcibly take it. I hate people like that.

BTW, my father is a lawyer. I ran these by him, and he seems to think you have a shot with the frame to leverage a return/lawsuit.

I still think the seller is going to get struck by lightning for doing this.

But.....but...you have a fastback!!!

It looks like that front left quarter panel is separated from the fire wall in the engine compartment, kinda moot considering that other things that are wrong.

You really have to make a decision on whether you want to pursue legal action. Otherwise just dive head first into the restoration! I would like to see progress on this thing….it could be worse I guess.

Legal action aside, if you have it in you, the only real way to fix this right is to strip it down to nothing and replace the panels. You can strip a Mustang to the bones in a weekend, and that is taking the time to bag and lable everything. Blasting it or better yet, dipping would be the best approach although honestly, I would worry about how it would look when you pull it out of the tank. Every part you need is available, but don't go with the cheap sheet metal. Get the Dynacorn stuff, it will fit with little massaging. If you strip it yourself and transport it to the dipper, buy the panels and do all the welding, you will spend roughly what you have in it today, but will end up with a car well worth the price. It is just a ton of work.

IMO, if you don't do that it will be a hazard to drive. My first Mustang was a 1968 fastback and was a rust bucket in 1988 (too many PA winters in the salt baths). Driving on the highway one day and the rear spring perch punched through the floor (I still don't know how I avoided a major accident as the car lurched to the left and almost hit another car at 60 mph. A month later, I was pulling into the driveway and the left shock tower separated from the frame! I finally stripped it down, found a mess and ended up selling it to a restorer (it was a fastback GT) as a bunch of parts.

Please be careful! We kind of like having you around here!

well, itll basicly be going down to nothing, but without the dipping. im going to put in a martz front clip so that takes care of the front frame rails and inner panel rust. then we're going to adress WTF is wrong with the rear end. and ultimatly i would like to go with a martz rear 4 link as well (hopefully next winter unless i dont build the motor :/ ) and i think i am going to leave the 1/4 panels the way they are cause the are in there solid. and the floors i am goin go to redo cause they arent really done correctly. so it will basicly be a complete tear down... im so excited!!

but now for the qustion. do i pursue legal action or not? im really considering it. but the only problem is, is with the frame rails, cause since i am putting the Martz in there, and when taking legal action, they will only go back to origional correct? im almost thinking forget about it as much as i want to to save time and money(with the lawyer etc etc)

mus, it just isnt bolted fully..

waffles and rmodel.... seems very tempting
