Default Good Or Bad Choice!?

For the past year or two I was hunting around for a good project car for my summer car . At one point I almost bought a 92 5.0L mustang but the deal went sour when I asked about getting a compression test. I originally set out to buy an older style mustang but that lead to more and more agony until about a month ago. Until one day on my way to work I noticed a 66 mustang parked out near the road on an aceage. Well I damn near put my truck in the ditch after seeing a "For Sale" sign on it. After talking with the owner I could tell he didn't want to sell it but his wife sure did. I managed to bargin him down and lucky put a down payment down because the next day someone offered almost twice as much.
Anyway to cut to the chase Ive been searching the numbers on the net but can't seem to have any success with cars prior to the 80's. If anyone has access to Fords vehicle archives I would be relieved to if the numbers match or not.
My VIN: 6R07C232542
Tranny# C5DA-6394-A
Eng# C60E-9425-A
I hope the numbers match. If they don't well I can be happy anyway cuz the body so far seems in great shape. Ive already started ripping it apart and iam getting close to dropping the tranny and tearing the engine out!

Look in the drivers side door jam. You will see a one inch by about 3 inch black metal plate on the door. Check to see if it matches 6R07C232542 (sometimes doors are changed). Then enter the data in this.

How is it rust wise? Auto or manual? Pics would be great.

I will get some pics soon. I just haven't had the time to grab a new camera yet. I was at a music festival this summer and some dumbass crowd surfer kicked it and broke it.
Iam gathering up parts as well, I plan on rebuilding the engine, maybe putting in a bigger cam and maybe get the cylinders rebuilt depending on the condition of them and much more. Iam also looking around for a nice Carb intake kit(4 barrel if the price is right) and since i cut the old rusted out exhaust off, a exhaust & header kit.
The Tranny is gonna need some work, its slipping and housing is slightly cracked at the bottom but intact.
Overall seems like good condition though i only found rust so far under the drivers side floor panel and near the rear right beside the old shackles on the leaf springs. The engine bay and shock towers are in really good condition
I predict a fun winter ahead of me spending most of my hard earned cash ive saved for this thing.
Got a little bonus today to, found the original owners manual under the seat when i took it out Yeah!!
Thx for linking the decoder as well. I will get on that tonight when I get some free time

fyi...there's no such thing as a "numbers matching" Mustang. The motor is not serialized to the vehicle.

Numbers matching means nothing to a ford, but means something to a chevy.
