Sub Frame Connectors
Have any of you put sub-frame connectors on your classic? I am going to be stiffening up the front of Old Yeller this summer, and wondered if it made enough difference to be worth the money. I don't race it, just regular driving to the store and back.
Daily drive I couldn't tell the difference. If that was the only modification, I'd be hard pressed to spend the time and money. On the other hand, as part of a total suspension make-over it is a definite plus. Pushing it hard on the "twisties", yes the car felt much more planted. The weird part was I felt there was more wheel spin off a straight line. My freinds and I argued that point over and over. To be honest I couldn't tell a difference in E.T. (mostly cause I suck at drag racing
IMO I think in a daily driver where you would notice it is in an emergency situation where you have to do some serious "obstical avoidance" it could be the difference between hitting or missing.
For me, I'd only do the weld in type and add the cross bracing support. I'm not much of a fan of drilling and bolting.

Nah, me either. I weld everything together. I built a 1929 Mercedes kit car awhile back, and I even welded the suspension nuts on so they had no chance of coming loose. I tend to over do things.
I will second the TCP stuff.
Chris Alston has been around since...forever. I used his stuff back in the late 70's. Good guy, good stuff. IIRC it used to be called Alston engineering (or something to that effect). He built race chassis. Real quality stuff. Haven't done anything with them since '80 or '81 , so my knowledge is ancient history
I will be looking closely at his kit for my '66 when I'm ready to drop in the V8.
