Default Floor insulation recommendations

Anyone have a suggestion for good insulation material for the floor? I am concerned about heat, noise and of course sweating, which can lead to rust in the future. I hear Dynamat is used by many, but it seems expensive. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not sold on the stuff. To me, the original underlaymant with the original type carpet and insulation works just fine. The rust issues in the floor usually result from a leaky cowl, and that is something that really needs fixed. I usually re-do the insulation in the roof as Ford just used a square piced that don't cover but like 60 or 70% of the inside area. I use heat pump duct insulation with the foil backing on the inside and its about 1.5 inches thick and works very well. The "R" value will have to go up considerably and the increased density will help muffle unwanted sounds and cost a fraction of the dyno stuff. The firewall is a key area also. Again the NOS type firewall insulation works just fine (I'm sure I'll catch a lot of flack). Also, if you consider the window area that is a very large percentage of the car, theres not a heck of a lot you can do for that. Maybe some of these aftermarket "we make it better-and pad my pocket" type people will come up with insulated soundproofed glass.

use eDead sound deadener, my car got a ton quieter and if you have leaks it will seal your floor for the most part (be sure to fix leaks though haha). It is a good bang for the buck sound deadener, Dynamat is of course the best, but you're going to be paying a lot of money for it.

Also look up Fatmat, a few members here got good deals on that with good results.

I used a roll of reflectrix installation from Lowe's and a can spray adhasive. Works great and only cost around $30 dollars.

Hold on there is something out there better than Dynamat on the market for cheaper, I have been meaning to track down this website that has a very good comparison of all the deadeners on the market.

But consider coating with POR-15 first if you are concerned with rust, you'll never have to worry after that.

Second Skin is the best stuff out there, especially standing up to heat and it is cheaper than dynamat.

All good comments. I used eDead on the stang and the truck. Didn't use Lizard Skin but made a home made version based on this thread:

I actually used a combination of these on my son’s 72 Ford truck project. Here are some photos:
