Default 65 289 Rebuild

I have a 65 A code Mustang coupe that may need an engine rebuild when in the next couple of months. I saw these rebuild kits on ebay, and was wondering if anyone had any experience with them?

you dont want an enginetech kit, they are low cost parts for stock rebuilds and use mediocre quality parts. i'd used them in a econobox type of car without hesitation, but i wouldnt use them in my mustang.

btw, i used to work in the machine shop that is also the enginetech distribution warehouse for the southeast, so im very familiar with their products.

look for a kit with clevite/federal mogul bearings and at least sealed power/federal mogul hyper. pistons. the flat tops are only about 100 bucks a set.

there is a store on ebay called falcon somethingrather, they have really really good prices on the types of things i listed above.

This one looks a little better to me if you are trying to save money,
appears to be all name brand stuff just doesn't specify which brand, same seller as the enginetech

The kit i posted comes with
Melling Cam
Melling Oil Pump
Fel-Pro Gaskets
Clevite Bearings
Sealed Power Lifters
Sealed Power Pistons
Sealed Power Cast Rings
Pioneer Freeze Plugs

Sealed Power is the only brand i haven't heard of before but seems to be part of Federal Mogul, does any one have any experience with this line of pistons?

i think he said hypereutectic pistons but i don't think that correct for that price, i would guess they are forged?

Thanks for the info. I have never rebuilt an engine before, but do have access to all of the tools and space that will be necessary. Going on the specs for the kit that Joe67 listed above, and besides the machine work, what else will I need to purchase in order to do this? I have a copy of the FoMoCo '65 Mustang shop manual, and am assuming I should also pick up the Monroe book. Taking into account my novice experience level, how long, from the day I pull the engine from the car to the day I am putting it back in, should I count on this job taking? This will be during my winter break from school, so I will have full days everyday to devote to this project.

Get a carb rebuild kit if you think you can handle it, or have it rebuilt if you cant or dont want to.

I will be replacing my oil pump pickup, and i have a new timing cover and water pump to put on it, the water pump is definitely something that should be replaced, considering its importance, and ow cheap they are, main seals, head bolts, and rod bolts if you plan to spin it past 5500 rpm

Yeah I have been planning to rebuild the carb, just forgot to mention it. I don't really plan on abusing this thing, just want a reliable fixed up daily driver. this would probably be a good time to replace the clutch as well.
