Default My 4-link installed

I finished the Heidts 4-link yesterday. Don't ask how she rides because it's a snowin. I probably won't know until May. The instructions sucked to say the least. I do plan on putting 295s in the rear. Today I welded in the Tin Man sub frame connectors. I had to remove the fuel line due to the driver's side frame connector. I will run a new line tomorrow and should be good to go. I did have to cut my new exhaust I just fabbed. I don't have any pics since I left my camera at home.

Looks good

What does the 4 link do for you? What does it offer that leaf springs dont? What are the draw backs?

The new rear suspension will allow me to hook up and get better traction. The only draw back was the extra expense

Plus, I can adjust my ride height and firmness.

I see

Now all you need is some good scales and you can adjust cross weight..

I finished putting mine in. Had to change the exhaust and upgrade the crap coil overs and upgraded the diff. Replaced the coil overs with the adjustables because the supplied ones were to bouncy. Put in the chassis stiffner without any issue. Hooks up real good on take over. Just bought a Paxton supercharger from superchargersonline.com. When that arrives she should hook up real good. Valley did you upgrade to the adjustables?

Not bad. Does their setup work with some of the watts links out there, or are you stuck with a panhard bar? I do like 4 links for their simplicity, they take up very little space. It looks like it uses shorter upper arms as well, am I right? It's hard to see in the pics.

For those who aren't too familiar, 4 links are EXCELLENT suspensions for off the line traction. They generate good axle downward motion and change the instant center of the vehicle when you launch, giving you the best traction you can get. They are also very adjustable, and you can set them to handle well(sacraficing some forward traction) or grab hard off the line(sacraficing some handling ability), or balanced. There are 3 links, which replace the 2 upper links in a 4 link with 1, giving the advantages of a 4 link, but with much better handling.....they're also considerably more expensive.

A good 4 link though, despite whatever handling deficencies it may have if setup for drag racing(in extreme cases they can bind, but if you set them up right for street use that can be mostly eliminated), will absolutely blow any leaf spring setup away, both in forward bite and in a curve.

Don't confuse this with a adjustable 4 link though. It has one adjustment in the upper, and both IC's aren't in a great location. The biggiest problem I didn't like about it was you can't get it upgraded to rod ends. So where you rear end sits, it has to stay. If you adjust to center it out with the pan hard, all the ends will be put in a bind. If you think about it, the rear end can't really articulate much at all.

Derwin, did you have to pay for the upgrade difference ? Or did they let you even return them ?

Valley, get the adjustables right off the bat man. They won't let you return them.

Its a 4 bar not a 4 link a 4 bar you have little to no adjustment a true 4 link the sky in the limit on the adjustments. You could add a watts link take some custom work tho.

OT: Valley, Can I get a pic or two of what you did with the exhaust? Looks like an H in there, it looks just like what I want.
