9" Center Section Manufacturers
What manufacturer/distributors do you guys know of that carry complete Ford 9" iron center sections with something limited slip like a TrueTrac? I know of the following:
Total Control Products
Strange
Moser
I am looking at prices and all three of these are in the $1200-1400 range with seams kinds high.

Currie Enterprises, but their prices may not be much btter. I have a 9" center section completely rebuilt with 3.89 gears and limited slip for $600, but it uses 28 spline axles and you may be looking for 31 spline with your power level.
Yeh...I currently have 31 spine Moser axles with an old truck limited slip center section built by the PO. It has been planting the power pretty well, but has begun to make noise and vibrate. I am tearing into it tomorrow, but if it is beyond my skill set to troubleshoot, I want some ideas of where to shop.
I purchased my center section from a guy on Ebay. I got a Track Lok(rebuilt) with 3.70 gears (new) for about $570 IIRC. He is over in PA and charged about $50 sor shipping. He has an option that you can get a True track (new) for an addional $250. I haven't had any problems with mine. I think his name was TJ or something. He goes by two initials if that is not what it was. Just thought I would bring up another option that wasn't the big guys already mentioned.
You have to remember though, that the aftermarket center sections aren't factory replacements in most cases. Many of them are redesigned to be more rigid, and reinforce the small pinion gear bearing support etc. $480 for a True Trac, $200 for gears, $100 for an install kit, then you add around $300 in labor to set the thing up, you're already looking at over $1,000 if it's all new, that only leaves about $200 for the center section itself. That's for being all new, nothing rebuilt.
mine is a ford racing trac loc and they are 31 as well

Thanks Kalli, but I am looking for a complete center section if possible. I guess I could build one using parts and pieces, but sure hoped to find something that was plug and play for a change.
That is a good point 67mustang302, I just thought they were out there for $800 or so. I was a little surprised when I saw the price tags. And you are right, I do not want anything rebuilt. It will last no time at all in this car.
Does Richmond or any of the gear guys make center section packages?
I noticed this afternoon that David Kee Toploaders who built my tranny sells Currie and Precision based center sections with a Detroit Soft Locker for $1000. I think they would do a Detroit TrueTrac for the same price. They will also upgrade you to the big Strange case for a couple hundred, which puts me back with the other guys up top.

I got my 31 spline, 3.89 gear, soft locker from Currie, but I think it was about $100 more. Maybe you can actually get a slight discount if you go with a Truetrac? For your application, a Detroit soft locker is the best answer imo.
I have never run a locker in anything other than a big 4x4 so I am not sure how it would behave. This car is pretty agile in the corners and a clunking locker might be a little squirley.
I just found out that Total Control sells Strange products, so I am down to:
Currie
Strange
Moser
...but those appear to be good stuff. Regardless of a locker or TrueTrac, I will probably go with the beefier case and pinion support. They rate them up to 800hp, which could be in range if I add any spray.

The soft locker is not too bad. I had one in my '41 ****** Coupe street rod. 2300 lbs, 650HP, tubs w/15" wide MT street slicks and it was hardly noticable. Of course, it could have been the big tires covering it up!
