Default 302 for 66’

Hello,

i am going to be putting in a 302 and new tranny into my 66' sooner or later. i was wondering if there was any major suspension work i would need to do. i believe the car had a 289 origanally? now it has a straight 6, dont' know the ci; i havent' checked what make it is. also is it hard to put disc brakes on and does anyone make a kit?

thanks for the help,

What is the vin code. You will be able to tell if it was a v-8 or inline six. Does it have 4-lugs or 5 all Sixes had 4 lugs.

If you have 4 lugs I have complete spindle and drun assemblies from a 67 5 lug that will fit a 66 if car was originally a 289 it will already have 5 lugs. To switch to discs is not hard and yes there are kits but they are very expensive. I used the spindles and brakes from a 71 ranchero since they mount without any changes except 71 tie rod ends are needed. I also had to modify the master cylinder push rod from a later model and use a disc brake proportioning valve. I was lucky to have the whole vehicle, was in decent shape except the frame rails are gone. I'm glad I didnt knuckle under to the ole lady to get rid of that P.O.S. next to the garage.

How much do you want for the spindles? i plan on switching to disc brakes so i will wait on the drums.
