rear window weather stripping

rear window weather stripping
well my rear weather stripping is leaking bad. the stripping is only 3 years old but i dont think it was that good of quality. any way i ordered some new weather stripping from a place that is recommended. how hard is it to install. i figure i can cut the older stuff out and simply lift the window out. i saw an ariticle that recommends to install the weather stripping in the frame of the car then put the glass in. they say to go around and lift the rubber to get the glass in. they show doing it with what looks like a pick. any thoughts on installing one of these. any suggestions.

I've had better results with the string trick. Put the glass in the weather stripping and then run a piece of heavy string all the way around in the weatherstripping slot that mounts over the flange. Cross it over at the bottom and don't let it fall out as you lay the window in position over the opening. You will need a helper to push on the glass from the outside as you pull the string forcing the weatherstripping slot over the mounting flange. You will then need the little hooked probe to make minor adjustments.

Apply it to the metal where the rubber sits in a thick bead then pull the rope and set the rubber. Then inject as much as possible into the gap between the rubber and the metal until it full. Wipe it smooth and then put the trim back on.
Mine worked great....You'll probably find the corners rusted through..maybe not though.
1 can should do it
