OK what is the trick to getting these things loose? I need to adjust them. I assume the are somewhat adjustable correct? I have applied PB Blaster a couple of time during the week. Tried a big screwdriver while tapping with a hammer etc....
I couldn't move mine either they just stripped out. I ended up tach welding a Philips head bit into the head of the screw head and that allowed me to unscrew it.
I forget what they are called. You can insert your size phillips into it, hit it with a hammer on the back. It will turn in or out depending on your selection. The hammer causes the phillips to stay seated, and gives it tons of force to turn the screw. Used to do it the hard way, but broke down and got the tool one day. One of those things you kick yourself for not getting years before. You should really get it, especially if you are the one putting them back on. A slider that moves after paint can break a heart in a hurry.
Think I'm going to go the tack weld way. Sounds way cheaper than the impact driver. I know CJ sells the screws for 3.00. Thanks for all of the ideas everybody!
I had access to the back of mine, inside the pillar, I drilled my screws out, broke away the retaining bracket, pulled all debris out, installed new screws and backs, tacked the retaining bracket back on. Worked well enough I'd do it again if I had to.
