Default What color to paint?

Yes, I know it is the eternal question and I was all set until I realized that 90% of 66 Fastbacks with GT350 parts end up blue/white or white/blue. I do like the colors, but I'm now rethinking and as I am starting my body work next month, I need to make a decision. Here is the color chart from 1966. The original color was Signal Flare Red. I was thinking Sauterne Gold with Black Lemans stripes. If I want to stick with original colors, what would you do:

I vote for Vintage Burgandy with Charcoal (like the Eleanor main body color) stripes. It would look classy and mean at the same time.

The burgundy would be sweet, andI'm pretty sure the emberglo color is a very nice one as well.

Sauterne Gold would look great, but I agree with your son, white stripes look much better with that color. While supposedly black goes with everything, I don't think it goes with that specific green/gold. The white sets it off much better. I'd also recommend the GT side stripes to light up the sides a little.

Just make sure to do a bc/cc, as that color green in single stage tends to fade very quickly in the sun, and it looks more like puke green when it fades. Modern clear coats provide good UV protection to keep bright colors from fading.

Now that is a sexy car right there. And I can say from personal experience, you do your car in that green and you will get much more attention than one in white. It's a real head turner. That's a 67, so probably Lime Gold, the same color of my car- well mine is now Legend Lime, the new version of the same color Ford used on 05-06 mustangs, the same color with just a little extra metallic gold to it.

I will say, for the light green colors like that, white or gold stripes (Hertz gold perhaps?) do look very nice, black works to, but not quite with the same punch.

I have to agree with 68EFIVert.

That Burgandy with black stripes would look great.

The Green with white stipes has always been one of my favorites but since you're son is going that way might as well do something different.

I also think a Midnight Blue Mist with White stripes would look nice.

Are you trying to stick with the more traditional color schemes for the year model or did you consider mixing it up a bit?

I know your drivetrain is not stock, I just didn't know if you wanted to keep it "stock looking".
