Default Engine coolant leak

I have had an overheating problem on my 65 289 4v for some time. After replacing my leaky radiator, clearing any obstructions, cooler therm,I still had problems.I now have coolant that appears to be coming out at the timing cover just below the therm and it appears when just filling the engine with coolant. The intake man has been resealed and no coolant is coming out at hoses or gaskets above.Need Help! Well, either it's leaking from the t-stat housing, or it's leaking from the timing cover. Check the underside of the t-stat housing to see if it's wet and dripping onto the timing cover. If you can determine that it's definitely coming from the timing cover, you'll need to pull all of your accessories off, pull the balancer, and remove the timing cover. If it turns out you need to do this, it's also a good time to replace the water pump, assuming you haven't done it recently.

It appears you are missing a bolt in the water pump. I believe that bolt is fairly long and bolts to the block. Replace the bolt and snug the rest of them and see if that is not the problem.

It appears that you have one of the dreaded chome thermostat housings (looks chrome, but hard to tell in the picture). They are notorious leakers. Try as you may, they almost always leak eventually, particularly if they have the o-ring seal vs. gasket. If that is the leak and you are determined to keep it, clean everything carefully, glue a paper gasket to the block using gasket adhesive, then coat it with a gasket maker and carefully bolt the housing to torque. Let it sit for at least a day before refilling and starting the engine.

The timing cover does not have coolant inside. A couple of the bolts that go through the pump and cover and then into the block actually pass through the water jacket and must have thread sealer applied to the bolts.

Coolant runs through two passages in the outside of the timing cover to get to the water pump

Thanks for the suggestions. This is my first mustang and I need all the help I can get. Is there any way I can find out size and length of the bolts that go into the water pump. I don't think the former installer used the correct parts. The pump is an Edelbrock and it was installed when former owner had the engine rebuilt in "94". Thanks again
