Default intake/air cleaner advice

Ok guys need some advise here. I have a 351 w with a victor jr intake and a holley 650. here is the problem. Currently I cant fit an air cleaner because of clearance issues with the hood. I know I have 2 options one is get a bigger scoop which is too much work cause of the paint work or an intake that sits lower than the victor jr. My question is will I see a big power drop with a different intake? Or anyone have a set up that will work with my configuration? Thanks in advance.

You might have a 3rd option. a drop base for your cleaner.
something like this. It'll drop the top of the aircleaner by 1", 2" or whatever.

not the foggiest idea which one will fit your application, but there's loads of them in all sizes. Just for you to get the idea.
it's the most simple, inexpensive fix and requires about 2 mins work (much better than pulling intakes)

just in case you have one of those round 14" air cleaner housings
