Default 302 Torque Settings...

Are all torque settings the same for most 302 engines? I have a old classic stang book that goes up to 64 1/2' - '73. The engine I am using now is a '89 302. Torque for the Heads and intake manifold.

The only difference I have noticed is intake mainfold torque. The newer 5.0 is higher, but that may be due to the two piece EFI manifold. Everything else is the same from what I have seen.

fake, yeah you gotta watch that crap because they still use the same 5/16-18 bolts. my experience is that no matter what the application there is a torque rating of "xx" for a certain size bolt, which tells me its the strength of the threads that becomes the most important issue. IIRC 15-18 lbs. is a happy place for a coarse thread 5/16 bolt.

I absolutely agree with you on the bolts being torqued to the spec of the bolt and typically not the application, however I read dit differently in a couple of places and even a quick web surf show 23 - 25 ft/lbs here:

http://www.treasurecoastmustangs.com/bolttorque.htm

and here at RHS they show 35:

http://www.racingheadservice.com/Inf...Ford-Heads.asp

Personally, I've always used 25 and I agree with the chart in my first link.
