Default Reverse Lights Not Working

My lights worked fine when I took them out. When I put them back in I hooked everything back up like it was and nothing happens when I put it in reverse. I dont think that both bulbs when out even though one of my tail light bulbs did go out and I had to replace it when I put those back on. Anything I should look for?

All you did was unhook the backup lights and remove them? Or was it a complete restoration and you stripped the entire car down to bare metal and had it dipped? Not to be dramatic, but did you only take those lights out or was there anything else you disconnected electrically? If you took out the bu lights, and worked a little on the rear valence, then installed them, they should work fine. Unless you nicked the wire, etc.

Mine weren't working when I first got my car.

When we were done with the floor pans we were putting the interior back together. There was a ground wire that was loose...part of the gear shifter.

We hooked the wire back up and they started working.

Did you just remove the lights then reinstall or was there more take apart than that?

I didnt unhook anything except for where the lights plug in. Where is there a wire near the shifter?

Is your car an auto or manual? If it is a manual there is a switch on the housing that the linkage presses when you are in reverse. On an auto I believe there is a wire by the shifter.

Its an auto. You mean a wire underneath the car near the tranny or would I have find it inside?
