i've been working on my c4 which used to not change from 1-2 very well at all, anyway i took out the valve body and did some light sanding, and drained all the fluid including torque converter. the tranny works much better now. my question is i'm in 3rd gear just over 20 mph, is that how it's supposed to be? i was reading about a vacuum modulator that attaches to the tranny, could that be my problem if there is one. what speed do y'all go into 3rd gear in a c4 3speed? thanks for the help

 

that sounds about right....If you nail it, it should kick down into a lower gear. If your just putting around then 20 in 3rd is about right.

You can adjust the modulator to make it shift later. But you have to punch it from a stop first and see if it stays with the gears long enough before figuring out what to do with the modulator.
