Default vinyl repair?

Ok so I am really pissed at myself this morning.

I have one work light that tends to get warm when it has been on for a while. If you accidentally touch your arm or something it will wake you up to say the least.

However, last night I was working on something and it dropped onto the passenger seat. My hands were tied up and didn't think much about it and decided to carry on.

Well the stupid thing must get hotter than I realized because the heat from it caused a small spot on the seat.

Do you think it is worth trying something like a vinyl repair kit or am I stuck paying to buy new seat covers...the down side is I have not found the seat covers where you can buy just one. It appears you get stuck buying it for both front seats at a minimum.

I have used a vinyl repair kit with great success. I bought it online for around $10-$15. It's easy to use, and comes with many color bases. you basically keep adding little bits of color until it matches your seat, then spread it on and that's it.

The kit also comes with texturizing pads that emboss grain (or even "moonskin" like your headliner) to match the existing vinyl. You cannot tell there was ever a repair, even up close in good light. I also used it to repair a hole in my tan leather couch and it worked perfectly. The kit also comes with a puttylike pre-filler for situations like a deep gouge in a foam armrest. The stuff totally works.

Thanks for the tip Carlos...it is fairly minor spot but sure made me pissed at myself.

When I get home tonight I am throwing that work light in the trash and going to find a new one that runs cooler.

I'll have to do some searching on the net to see if I can find that product.

I just saw that at Wal-mart yesterday. Any car store should have it.

Try a high wattage compact flourescent floodlight bulb. the put off almost no heat. The downsides are they are not as bright, and they don't work well in really cold temps. (but then neither do I )

Thanks again for the tip guys....I ordered some since I wasn't in a hurry.

Just got back from getting the Stang over to the transmission shop.

The spot isn't really "that bad" just discolored it more than anything else. It wouldn't take much to turn that spot into a real tear but luckily no one really sits in that seat much anyway. The boys are about the only ones that ride in it with me and when they are in the car they are in the back in their boosters.
