Default Alternator upgrades

hey all, been looking to upgrade to an internally regulated 1-wire unit due to the fact that i have a sound system that draws alot of power. Im needing something of probably at least 100A, does anybody have any experience with putting these in our cars? Just trying to see if there is a preference towards one brand or not and amperage size.

I used a 3 wire so it would charge the battery all the time. You use the original wiring system.
100 amp polished case. $71
On Ebay:

A-1truck@sbcglobal.net or call 559-442-4040. I called and John gave me a better price than Ebay one.

I have a Powermaster mini-torque starter and I'm very happy with it, and with their customer service. I've heard nothing but praise for their products. I wouldn't recommend the no-name polished crap on ebay, both for quality issues and because polished cases are kinda tacky outside of a show car:P

I had reservations also, but it came recommended by MustangSteve and he has been running it on his cars. I was also concerned with 1 wire alternators not charging at low RPM's
It came with a 1 year warranty and is also available in dull cast.
Personally I like clean and shinny under the hood, but that is JMHO.

Don't worry about the low rpm charging. Once you rev the engine to 1400 rpm or so, a one wire starts charging and keeps charging at all rpms, including idle.

X2

All I use any more is powermaster. A bit more money but have only ever replaced one in problably 40-50 installs.

Sometimes you get what you pay for. But really, it is personal choice as to if you want the polished look or black. You can put higher performance stuff in the polished housing if the cheap one fails to live up to expectations but you may end up spending more than if you bought the powermaster unit.

X3 Powermaster.
I have gone through more alternators until I finally went with the 1 wire Powermaster and have had no problems at all. Headlights much brighter stereo cranks. I got the 140 AMP and do not regret it whatsoever. Got sick of replacing voltage regulators.
Oh ya, absolutely go for the chrome one.
