Default cable clutch question

I started pulling my engine tonight and will be getting ready to put the new one in, while it's out I'm taking care of some stuff that will be a lot easier while the engines out. I was thinking of going to a cable clutch, but everything I've read deals with the T5 conversion. Will the same cable clutch setup work for a 4speed toploader? Thanks.

Cable clutches are designed for pull type clutch mechanisms. Early model 3 speed and 4 speeds use a push type mechanism.

Sorry... there's not a good way to do this swap.
