I'm a little weary of companies that use chinese heads in their crates. the only ones I know of here that sell them are the sneeky shops. There are tons of money to be made of them when they are selling for 8-900 bucks. They don't care, just make money.
How much are you looking to spend ?

not right now, but i dont want to spend more than 5k if possible.
i was looking at the 351c/401 hp which uses the aussie heads instead of the chinese

anyone else you would reccomend?
im thinking about calling woody once i get enough money for a deposit kinda thing since i heard he does a payment plan on his motors, and then i know its built right, and makes power, would also make it easier on me since i wouldnt be dropping 5k on a motor at once haha

Like most everything else, you get what you pay for. Quality parts cost more money, driving up the price of the complete engine. I am also in NH and wanted to purchase an engine as close to homebase as possible. I went with this shop in NJ.

No regrets, picked up the engine myself and met the staff, toured the shop, very impressed with the whole experience. Car will be on the road this spring, went with the 418 stroker, the engine sounds nasty.

*cough* 300ci I6 *cough* They only run about 1.5K for long block. Don't know what kind of HP they push though. I want one of them for my next engine. Bore them .020 and you have yourself a 302.

I have too agree on the suspect parts. Also the fact that he considers himself a professional engine builder yet uses suspect parts and still believes that a longer rod causes increased piston dwell (if you plot out piston location relative to crank degrees you will find that on any engine even with a .5" longer rod that dwell is virtually identical), makes me a little weary of his engine building knowledge besides basic machining and assembly. I also wonder about his high ring position pistons, there is a fine line between running the ring high enough to where its effective in minimizing the quench area on the sides of the piston and running it too high on the piston. It's a place where it's real easy to go overboard.

As for the I6 300, I am in the process of rebuilding the one in my dads '80 f100. Reusing and refurbishing the crank and rods along with new TRW pistons and Mahle-Clevite or Speed Pro parts for the rest of the build it will be around $2k for a complete rebuild including a header for the exhaust and a refurb Offy manifold and 4160 carb from a period F-150. Dynomation put the build at around 270hp and 360 ft.lbs with a .477, 240 adv. duration cam.

longer rod motors ARE better, and that is commonly agreed upon.

isn't there someone on this forums working for T&L engines?

They seem to make good 347 strokers from what I've seen/heard so far on this forums.
