Default Tire Sizes

Ok lets start off with the question if anyone knows what wheel/ tire size fits a 1966 mustang 5 lug with the stock wheels that have wheel covers? i want to upgrade to either the 15 x 6 or 14 x 6 steel stlyed but i dont have 1080 bucks to get the wheel/ tire combo offered at Virginia Mustang. if anyone knows were i can get this cheaper or can tell me the tire sizes it would be appreciate. Ive said this before, but ill say it again, im 16 trying to fix my late fatheres 1966 289 convertable, soim trying to get it driveable, not completely restored or restomod. I just Need some cheap tires.

i think on my 66 they are 195/70/14 its a standard 289, same thing you have. but you can get many different tires sizes that will fit the rim and car, but it just depends, the more rubber on the tire, the more its gona cost. i got my tires for 60$ each at wal mart, and they are goodyears, they get the job done

Mustangs Unlimited has styled steel wheel kits that have the 4 wheels, center caps, and lugnuts for ~$700 + $30 shipping. Lots of sizes, even different wheel styles (though for different prices).

They're good quality kits, I have one on mine only problems after 2 years are a bit of paint loss in the weirdly curved bits, not really noticeable.
