How do you know if the Pertronix is bad?
I've had the Pertronix Ignitor II for over a year. The car is barely driven. I think I left the switch on and killed the battery. Now I can't jump start the car. The lights work. But the engine will not turn over. Did I kill the Pertronix?

That shouldn't have killed the PertronixII according to their ad's. It is supposed to have circuitry to sense if the key is left on but the engine is not running, and shut off to protect itself. I don't think the original Pertonix had that feature.

May have fried your coil. If you leave your ignition on will definitely overheat your coil. Could have fried the pertonix also. I've done it. I'd change the coil out and see if it would start. Also check to see if your getting volts to + side of coil. If still not starting probably fried the pertonix.

+1 on charging the battery first. See if it will take a charge. If a cell in the batt has gone bad from being discharged for so long, it might show a charge, and be able to trickle enough juice to the lights, but not have enough power to turn the engine over. You might take the batt out to a parts store where they can check it. Try to charge it first.
You say it won't "turn over". That indicates a problem between the battery-solenoid-starter. If it turns over but doesn't fire and run, it might be coil, pertronix, etc..

Sorry read post to quick before reply. Pertonix or coil could be bad but car would turn over may not start or would run rough +1 on battery - I have many times a car with a ver low or bad battery would not take a jump. If you don't have a charger take it in and get tested - they charge it as part of the process.
