Default Ash tray question..

I had recently purchased an ash tray off ebay, but when it came time to install it was about 1/4 of an inch too long. The ebay advertisment was for a 67-68. Is there a difference between the two years in length?

When I read the topic I thought OMG another one asking how to reomve the ash tray. that's gonna be fun :-)
Na seriously, I have no idea of differences, but If you dont have an original ashtray to compare I can measure mine on Tuesday if you want

As it turns out, people advertize ash trays as if they are interchangable between 67 and 68 when they are not. For some unkown reason, Ford made the 68 ash tray shorter by 1/4 to 1/2 inch. If you look in the Mustang parts catelogs, you will see an aftermarket ash tray for a 67, but not 68. We found this out the hard way when we bought one and it didn't fit.
