Default Another tire size question

I have a '67 coupe that I plan to put Torque Thrust Ds on. I'm going to install new leaf springs that will raise the back 2-3 inches so I'm hoping that I can install 15 x 8.5s in the back with 15 x 7s in the front. For the front tires, I'm going to go with 215/60/15s. What would be the best tire size for the back? I'm wanting to have a decent rake to the car but nothing extreme.

Thanks!

This might be a dumb question but what's the difference between a 215/60/15 and a 215/75/15. I'm just starting on my first Mustang. (66)

Basically, the 215 is the width of the tire in mm's.

The second number is the % of the width to signify the sidewall height. So a 215 (8.75 in.)wide tire that is /75/ is (215x75%=161.25mm or 6.5 in.)

The third number is the wheel size.

So, the 215/75/15 size tire sounds really taller than you want, and certainly taller than stock. Also, I don't think you will see a 2" rise with new leafs, even the HD 5 leaf ones. Close to 2 maybe, but not that much even if the current leafs are flat.

A slightly wider tire like a 225/60/15 will also have a slightly taller sidewall than a 215/60/15 making the overall tire a bit taller instead having to go to a 70 or 75 series on a 215. Basically, by changing the width, you change the tire height exponentially. The ride will differ, so stay close to stock as poss without having to adjust the suspension just to accommodate larger tires (like I did, lol. I have 255/60/15 rear and 225/60/15 front).

CP thanks for the info, I had no idea. I'm thinking 15" wheel because of going disc later. Thanks again.
