Default Tranny Question

Hello, I am new to the forum but i have a question about Tranny's. I am building a stroked 460 and was planning on putting a T56 behind it but nw that i think about the price vs. usage i will get i think it may be worth buying a 5 speed. The question i have is what tranny would handle 650-700 hp reliably and be able to handle abuse sometimes? Obviously it would need to mate to a 460 and fit in the tunnel of a 65 coupe. Please help me with this decision. Thank You all.

I can't believe you are going to attempt to put a stroked 460 in a 1965 and are worried about the tranny fitting in the tunnel!!!

It is torque, not HP that kills trannys. Tremec just came out with a TKO700 that should be just fine.

Well i know there will be many chalenges in this build but i have worked out many of the issues already. i will research about that transmission. please if anyone has any other inputs about where to buy a tough tranny please put some input. As far as torque goes i think ittl have 700-800ft lbs. It is hard to tell before it is built. thank you so much.

Richmond might work

Since you are going to be doing all that surgery up front anyway....what's a little more...and then you can have 6 speeds! Although why you would want even a 5 speed for a track only car I can't imagine. This is a track car right?

As fas as the suspension goes i think ill use a 4 link from total control or ive seen a nice kit from rod and custom motorsports.

What size tires do you think you will be running on the front and back to help plant and control?
