Default clutch concerns

I have had the T-5 in the car for about a year now and have had no problems. When I went to drive her yesterday I noticed that after I had shifted into gear, the shifter seemed to slip back towards nuetral quite a bit. It was as if it were going to slip all the way out.

Any suggestions as to what could be the cause of this?

bad synchro? do you have a good shifter? like a MGW or a tri ax? if not you need one.

also what kind of atf are you running? a synthetic is the best

is the tranny used or new?

Doesnt the T-5 have a ball detent?

You may just need to clean your transmission. I had something similar happen to me with one of my trucks so I drained the transmission except for maybe a quart and filled it with diesel, chocked the real wheels up, then ran it in all gears with the engine idleing.

The diesel will clean all of the crap out of the housing. I do this on all of my engines, trannys, axles, etc and they are spotless. Once clean just keep up with your maintnence.

i wouldnt put diesel through the t5, the needle bearing will burn up.

i do also, but clutch adjustment will effect the shifting.

i would run the tranny to get it hot then jack it up and drain the fluid. then replace the plug and remove the shifter and fill with a good synthetic fluid like GM's synchromesh you can find it locally at the gm dealership. the shnchromesh doesnt have the friction modifiers like regular mercon dexron

wouldnt bad synchros be accompanied by an increased difficulty in shifting. The car shifts into gear just fine with not grinding or difficulty at all. It is only the issue of the shifter slipping

Sounds more like a bent fork to me. That, or your shifter stop isn't adjusted properly. T5's don't have internal shift stops like toploader/TKO trannies, so you need to adjust the shifter stops for proper operation and to keep from bending shift forks.

If you got it from Modern Driveline, call them first.
