Default Problem w/ '70 mach 1

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi guys,

Brand new to the forum.

I drive a 1970 Mach 1 351 4-speed, which has been running fine lately. However, today I couldn't start it for the life of me. The battery is charged, gas tank is full, but the engine just won't turn over. I've tried everything I can think of but still can't get it started up.

Any thoughts/ideas?

Thanks!

Not cranking at all could be a number of things. Battery, loose ground cable, neutral safety switch - Do your lights or blinkers work?

if the engine is spinning and won't start then start with the basics. Is it sparking? Is there gas getting to the carb? Is the air cleaner clogged? spark, gas, and air is how I start diagnosing the problem.

Sounds like the starter is not working, at all...

Clean your battery cable connections.

Could be a bad starter selonoid, you could bypass it with a remote starter switch and see if it will then turn over. It could also be a bad starter switch. Are you close to Visalia, Ca.?
