Default body dropping and a wheel question and air ride question added as well

ok now being from the car show scene and also wanting to build my car as a show car with a little more over the top than a restomod i have gotten alot of criticism and negative comments but oh well its my car and thats how i want it built, i dont knock you guys for building them back stock or regular restomod, to each his own, i just have a different opinion on what i want to do with mine.

but either way i still like feedback positive or negative, but what i am saying is some people are trying to persuade me into not doing things because it isent what they would do.

with that out of the way and expaining what i am doing with the car and that it is going to be a show car and built with shows in mind, with that also said im sure many of you have seen or know about mini trucking and body dropping to make it lower and or seem lower. well i for one have never body dropped anything but i know some people that have and seem to have a general idea on how to do it.

but my question is i have to put in new floorpans anyway because they are all rusted out and the car as of right now is totally stripped down so what do you guys think of body dropping a 66 coupe? by the way i am also planning air ride on it as well and thats the main reason i am thinking of it because i love the slammed look, and the air ride technologies kit which looks to be the only one offered if you guys know of any others please send me in that direction, but it seems it dont give the slammed look but it is more for performance aspect and wont actually slam it out. or close to it for that matter, but it will be daily driven so it cant be slammed all the time so anyone have any ideas or suggestions? or i could also just fab up some other kind of air ride off of a mini truck kit and weld them in to try for the slammed look if that would be more practical or get the results i am looking for

*added question that i asked later in the text, but some people may skim over it so im adding it here as well*

whats the biggest wheel size i can put in the rear and in the front? and would it be better to put a bigger wheel in the back and one size smaller in the front? i was thinking a 20"s in the back and 19"s in the front. also i really want these wheels but i am not really sure if they will work on the 66, my car is the v8 car with the 5 lugs. heres the link.

http://cruizinconceptswholesale.com/...5-05UP&cat=196

they are the foose classics and i know it says the newer mustangs but since i dont know the offset or anything on the 66s coupe i am not sure if they will work, also will they work with me wanting to do air ride on it or will they just hinder that and be getting in the way too much

i know i am asking alot but it will all come together, just work with me please and i will be try to keep it simple and i did do a search but not many people are setting up their 66 mustangs on air then wanting to find the biggest wheel they can use.

also if i cant use 20's i can do 19's all the way around or a 19 rear 18 front combo.

and one last question here, my last car was a 97 mitsubishi eclipse gst (turbo) 4g63, well i still have the wheels off of it which would be front wheel drive offset but they are suppose to be universal 5 lugs, i dont really want these wheels on the car to drive around but just so i can install the big brake kit if i dont already have my new wheels and stuff like that since most big brake kits require a larger wheel and these are 18's, but since my shop is one bay i will have to roll the car outside some so i cant just have it jacked up until i get my wheels, and i will have to roll it out some since it is my place of business, gotta start somewhere though. sorry my questions are so complex and long and boring by the way i know they probably are.

Im all honestly I dont think I have ever seen a "slammed" classic mustang before but I did read a great article on the fad in europe. Check it out

Edit

Also have you check out cars with shelby drops and 18's? Thoes seem a bit more functional if your looking for a Daily Driver

Don't laugh. I know what you mean. When I worked at Darkside, I thought about it too. The only way you could do it right would be to put the Mustang II suspension on the front, then you could cut and raise the frame into the body. You would have to have subframe connectors and chop and channel the rear frame rails up into the body too. Believe me, the slammed look is great!!!! It is possible if you want to do the work!

that sounds do-able, and we were thinking of doing a dodge srt8 motor in it or at least something crazy, some of you may have seen my other posts about the motor ideas, but right now thats what is in my head, but i own a shop here and dont mind doing the work to get it done, but in slammed i dont absolutly have to have it on the ground but i want it to have the stance of this and maybe even a bit lower

http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...431cfc0154.jpg

and here is a couple of pics that i found a long while back of a stang that is absolutly slammed but i really dont know how they done it but i dont think air ride was involved

http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...r/S4022061.jpg
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...r/S4022063.jpg

but i could be wrong he may have used air but he never actually responded when i asked him so i may never know. but it is the only slammed one i have seen.

and i live by the anything is possible with enough time, air tools, power tools, and patience

If you put Air Rides on your stang you can drop it til the front and back suspension sit on the snubbers. At ride height it says it will run about 2 inches lower than stock. To go any lower when parked you would have to relocate the shock towers or put a Mustang II suspension under it and also figure out how to raise up both frame rails and the rear sheetmetal in front of the rear end (where the rear end center section snubber is mounted) because that is where the air ride sub frame mounts to. Its doable but its going to be some work with a lot of measuring, cutting and fitting. You could just purchase the bags for the back and make your own brackets to hold them at the correct height. You would also have to make your own shock bracket and locating arm that is supplied with the air ride kit.
Good luck.

lol you know i never even thought about that one..... thats bad to say but i will admit it.
