68 Fastback Engine and T56 swap
I'm having a little set back with my pulley setup. Apparently the older style water pump sits back a little farther than the newer style...? I could not run the serpentine power pulleys I purchased.
I have a 4 bolt damper, but the pulley is too big. I have a 3 bolt damper, but its seen better days...

Not the best picture, but I wanted to show where the shifter on the T56 comes through the floor. I had to trim my shifter opening the slightest bit for shifter stop clearance.
It's a work in progress, it'll get cleaned up!

What are you using for a crossmember? I thought I wanted to go t56 for my Cougar, but the T5/TKO500/TKO600 kits (and the reports of t56 clearance issues) had me leaning toward something like a keisler TKO600 kit.
Seeing this gives me hope again. Thanks for posting all the pictures.

I couldn't see coughing up $150-$200 for a ready made transmission mount. I thought about making my own, but I came across a buddy of mine that did a T56 swap in his 03 Mach 1 which requires a different mount for that car. Well the mount that came off the car, a t45 transmission I think... don't quote me, well it looked like a perfect fit for my car. Sure enough, that sucker fit between the frame rails like it was made for the car. As a plus I get nice clearance for e-brake and the exhaust system as well, which was a major concern with the home brew transmission mount. The T45 X-member included frame mounting brackets as well... They took a little work, but ended up fitting nicely after re-drilling the mounting holes(you can see the original holes in the picture, they have been removed since this picture was taken). The stock T45 mount was too tall, but the C4 mount worked out to be a perfect height, which oddly enough bolted right up to the T56. I think the key is the Ron Morris motor mounts, which allowed for drive train adjustment.
Here's a pic of how it turned out... (not sure if this is a pic re-post, sorry I dont remember what pics I've posted)

Had a local car show last weekend that I scrambled to make! Here are a couple pics from the show and a couple other misc ones.

Can throw a couple more questions at you? Is that a .5 or a .63 t56? And what rear end gear are you running? Just playing around with the numbers, I'm thinking something like a 3.80 would go nicely with a .5, but there's a world of difference between looking at a spreadsheet, and actually driving.
I noticed that you mentioned that you spend more time in 5th than 6th. Do you wish is had a different gear in back now?

Driving the car, the shifting is fast, but makes it a fun car to drive. Cruises on the highway @ 70 without an issue and the RPM's are not bad for a weekend warrior.
Sure beats a 1:1 C4!!!
