Default 69/70 owners - Measurement please

Could one of you 1969 or 1970 mustang owners take a measurement for me please. What I need is a measurement from the ground to the bottom of the radiator support crossmember. I'm getting ready to mock up my home brew rack and pinion setup and want to put the front of the car at close to ride height without the engine in it. I will be putting the front suspension on without the springs and will just put temporary wood blocks in where the springs would go but need a measurement so I can cut the blocks. Thanks in advance.

It doesn't matter if it is exact, just has to be a representative height. I'm sure the measurement from your car would be fine. Or someone else for that matter.

I'll see if I can get over to my car within the next day or so and measure it out for you.

I'm curious as to how many different answers will result? 40 years is a long time...I know mine has a few mods.

Yep, there are going to be differences and lots of them. My problem is that my car right now is just a shell with no glass, no doors, no fenders, no interior, etc. I can get the rear about the right height because I know the tire diameter I'll be running and how I want it to sit in the wheel well. On the front, I know how I want it to sit, but I don't have any fenders (pitched the old, decrepit, rusty, junky ones that came with the car). Since I have no fenders, I can't measure to the wheel arch like I can for the rear. If I can get it close I can mock up the rack and pinion without the engine in there and have lots of room for fitting brackets, etc. Now that I think about it I can get the rear end where I want it and set the fron end so that the rocker panels are level. Measurements would still be nice to see if I'm in the realm of reality.

Hey David, aka 4Reboy, is that Winter blue, Acapulco blue, or another color on your car?

It's winter blue with the mach 1 trim and hood paint (original color) here's some pics:

I wonder since you know how you want the rear, do you want the level look or a slightly raked look? Certainly not the front higher than the rear, but the rear higher than the front. It may be only one degree or a few...that would lead you to the height you are looking for.
