Default flat oval air cleaner

Hi all,

I currently have a round 14" air cleaner housing. the chrome hipo type.
To match my valvecovers I'd like to get this one:

i'm a bit concerned as it's flat and long ... how would a carb possibly breath under this thing? so I'm not sure if I should be getting this, or would I be better off with getting a K&N x-stream top that might not look as good but perform a lot better (at least I'd guess so)

You must consider the filter area exposed. These probably have about the same amount of filter surface as your current unit.

Providing you have hood clearance you could likely get a taller filter...

coul have thought of that. even if the stock size would feed myh engine it looks wrong. it just looks to flat as if there was starvation going on. Nothing i can measure but I just don't want to mount something that looks wrong to me.

stock is 1.75", but K&N have a 3" filter the same size (even more). I think I'll just measure and go for that

thanks James and James ;-)

I would think it would gt moreeair than what you have. Yours is 14" both ways that thing is 10 wide and 21 long....a little narrower but a LOT longer. I would like one if I thought it would match my valve covers.

I currently have the same air cleaner you are looking at on my 347 stroker and it flows great. Ive had no problems. Besides, it looks cool!

screamer: thx for info and rmodel thanks for picture. never saw a red engine compartment :-) you probably can't wait to finish and clean all that dust down
i see your fuel line comes in from the side of the inner fender. Is that stock in a 65? in my 64 it comes out at bottom of firewall (with rear brake line) and then I have to route it to the front on the inside of engine compartment

I have one that I got from summit or jegs that fits under my shelby hood scoop. I have a 1" spacer on a 670 street avenger and it fits perfect
