Default oil coming out of exhaust!

I turned on the car to to warm it up today, and found that oil was spitting out of my exhaust tips. Anyone know why this is happening?

If it is a black liquid, it is probably just carbon leftovers and moisture. Mine does that too. Is it actually oil?

I would say it is. It happens especially if you just start it and pull it in and out of the garage and don't really drive it. The carbon builds up in the exhaust and then the moisture kind of washes it out and it looks like oil.

Mine does this every so often. Exactly what cfd2bc says it is.

Smell/taste it. If it's oil you got a problem, if it's charcoal then it's normal, condensation building up and washing the soot out of the pipes.

I'm amazed how many times this comes up on this site. It is basic physics. If you compress air you get water. It is just like your air compressor. You have to drain the water out of it once in a while. When you drive to work in the morning look and see how many people have water dripping from thier tail pipes. Almost all. It is worse on cold mornings with cold engines.

If it is oil, off the top of my head it is:

a. Bad cylinder sealing, broken/worn ring(s), scorred/cracked cylinder and/or piston.
b. Bad valve guide and/or seal
c. defective PCV valve

But chances are it is just carbon and/or normal seepage past valve seals when the car sits for an extended period.

Whatever it is, I would just drive the **** out of the car and if there is a problem it will make itself known...

The liquid that come out of the exhaust during warm up is water. If it goes away after the engine is warm then it is water. Don't worry about it. It is normal.
