Smile How close can it get

When converting to a dual exhaust system how close can the rear rubber hose get to the muffler, 1, 2, 3 inches? Or what is the minimum safe distance? Thanks.

After running my new rubber hose I am 1.5 inches away from the muffler. I think it's beacause I have the Dynomax Turbo Muffler. Am I OK?

Are you talking about the rear end differential vent hose? If so you could replace it with a vent cap.. like this. Bought one for our 9" Currie instead of the hose.

For a brake hose you 'might' be OK, but the bad news is you won't know if the fluid got hot enough to boil until you need the brakes and they ain't there. I'd find a way to widen the gap.

What about putting a spark plug wire protector over the hose?

I think I read somewhere about a clothlike wrap you can wrap around exhaust that reduces the temp around it. Maybe you could use that for a few inches by that brake line?

That's true, you could buy a piece of header wrap from Summitt and wrap the exhaust pipe in the air of the brake hose. Use some hose clamps on each end to hold in place.
