Default PAXTON SUPERCHARGER

I have fitted a passenger side Paxton to my 65 coupe and have found the air filter which runs of the rear of the head unit is real close to the heads and headers. Am I better of fabricating a pipe to get the air filter towards the front of the bay where it is likely to get much cooler air? It would be a pretty tight bend in the pipe, which may restrict air flow a little, just curious.

If you get it to the front like a ram air, you'll get the ram and suck effect which is ok. You HAVE to get it away from the exhaust though. The Paxton increases the air intake by 250 degrees over ambient temp so anywhere near the front is great.

Here is what I did. I have a 90 degree silicon elbow connected to a 3.5" 90 degree mandrel bent stainless tube.

Yeah, get the filter away from the headers, blowers already make a crapload of heat and you don't want any more. Don't worry too much about airflow restriction when it comes to making tight bends, the pumping action of the supercharger will make up for that. Obviously you don't want a mega restriction going to the blower, but a tight 90 isn't gonna kill power, especially when it's allowing you cooler air into the blower.

I might have a look at that set up 68efi, it will be tight with the shock towers on the 65 though, but I agree I have to move that air cleaner to get cool air

I think your number is a little high there.Typically on a 6-8 psi blower the inlet air temp is about 115-190* over ambient air.

The temp is taken coming out of the discharge tube. All the oil filled blowers are that high. The stupid Powerdynes were only 80-90 degrees over ambient temp. If the guys there did their homework and corrected the faulty machine work, it would have been a great blower. O2 Force bought their patents and claim that they fixed the bad machining so we'll see.

Okay I have tried silcone hoses and it is just to tight to use silicone and steel once joined together. It will hit the shock towers/inner apron or the turn would be real tight. I could use a flexbile style hose but would prefer not to. I see Mustang Depot in Las Vegas use a part from a late model supercharger, does anyone know anything about that one. I have sent them an e-mail but got no response. Thanks

Give a call to Tony @ Superchargersonline.com. Tony can get you a silicone piece.
